A B2B Diamond marketplace
Problem Statement
Understanding the Users & Their Needs
Our research focused on two primary user groups within the diamond marketplace: Diamond Suppliers and Diamond Buyers (primarily jewelers & manufacturers). We employed a mixed-methods approach including stakeholder interviews, user surveys, and competitive analysis to deeply understand their pain points and motivations.
Key Findings – Diamond Suppliers:
- Lack of Control: Suppliers felt limited control over branding and presentation of their inventory on existing platforms. They desired more opportunities to showcase their unique offerings and build direct relationships.
- Inefficient Inventory Management: Existing solutions often lacked robust inventory management tools, leading to discrepancies and wasted time updating listings across multiple platforms.
- Trust & Verification Concerns: A need for increased transparency and verification of buyer legitimacy was frequently expressed.
Key Findings – Diamond Buyers:
- Time-Consuming Sourcing: Buyers spent significant time searching across multiple platforms to find specific diamonds, often facing inconsistent data and unreliable information.
- Limited Negotiation Power: Existing marketplaces often favored suppliers, leaving buyers with limited ability to negotiate pricing and terms.
- Need for Detailed Diamond Information: Beyond the 4Cs, buyers required access to detailed reports (GIA, IGI, etc.) and high-quality imagery for confident decision-making.
These insights highlighted a clear opportunity to build a platform that empowered both suppliers and buyers with greater control, transparency, and efficiency – ultimately fostering stronger, more direct relationships within the diamond trade.
